Abstract:
•India, the world’s top rice exporter, imposed a ban on non-basmati rice.•Investigate price movements on key rice markets in Africa before and after the ban.•Findings show smaller price increases in Africa compared to Asia.•Possible reasons include favorable weather conditions and production expansion in Africa.
