Turbulent diffusion in the lower atmosphere: A hybrid simulation study

Chau Shih and W.J. Karplus

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (MATCOM), 1970, vol. 12, issue 3, 130-137

Abstract: The turbulent diffusion equation is solved by means of a hybrid simulation approach. The wind velocity profile and eddy diffusivities which appear in the general diffusion equation are assumed to be function of height only. The simulation technique to solve the general diffusion equation is first discussed. The method is then applied to solve the evaporation problem which is characterized by complicated explicit expressions of wind profile and eddy diffusivities.
