Implicit simulation method for distributed parameter

Abstract:
This paper presents a hybrid method of simulating a class of non-linear distributed parameter systems. The implicit method based on an integral representation of the dynamic boundary value problem. This integral equation is formulated using Green's function, defined by the linear spatial differential and boundary operators. The hybrid implementation of the implicit simulation requires the analog integration of ordinary differential equations and, simultaneously, algebraic operations on the ditigal part. Due to the multiplex-technique used, the method is well suited to the simulation of partial differential equations with a separable non-linear source term. As a typical example a catalytic fixed-bed reactor is simulated on a hybrid computer by application of the implicit method.
