Numerical simulation of stiff systems with a diagonal splitting method

Abstract:
A linearly implicit Runge-Kutta type method is introduced. To reduce the computing time, one may often replace the Jacobian by its diagonal blockmatrices - we call it “diagonal splitting”. The order of the method is independent of this splitting, but using the whole Jacobian guarantees L-stability. An example is presented.
