Abstract:
This paper presents a novel time-stepping algorithm for solving incompressible flows in domains with open boundaries. The scheme is based on the pressure Poisson reformulation of the system. A new boundary condition is proposed for the pressure variable on the open boundary. Unconditional stability is shown for a stabilized scheme. Numerical tests indicate excellent stability and accuracy of the proposed algorithm.
