Abstract:
We consider the Lifshitz–Slyozov model coupled with particle encounters that describes the kinetics of precipitation from supersaturated solution systems, and subsequent growth of crystals in the system. The encounter phenomena is described through the coupling of the Oort–Hulst–Safronov process with the inverse coagulation process. The physical significance of the models and relation between them are discussed in detail. New analytical series solutions are obtained using homotopy method. The mathematical convergence analysis of the new scheme is carried out. Several examples are discussed numerically and the convergence of series solutions is accelerated through an optimal convergence control parameter. For two examples, new analytical solutions in closed form are presented. Accuracy of the proposed method is further advanced by coupling it with the Padé approximation technique.
