The simulation of hourly wind speed and direction

B. McWilliams and D. Sprevak

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (MATCOM), 1982, vol. 24, issue 1, 54-59

Abstract: A simple modelling procedure for the time series of wind speed is presented. Using the statistical properties of the joint distribution of wind speed and direction the modelling problem is reduced to one of modelling a stationary Gaussian process. This model can be used to generate the time series of both wind speed and wind direction.
