Invariance of stiff stability under a small parameter variation

Charlie H Cooke

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (MATCOM), 1983, vol. 25, issue 6, 481-484

Abstract: For specific values of the algorithm coefficients, it is known that certain linear multistep methods are stiffly stable. One might expect this property to be invariant under small variations in the coefficients. We here establish by implicit function techniques conditions under which this circumstance indeed occurs.
