Continuous system simulation using digital signal processing elements

Abstract: The paper describes the features of the new generation of digital signal processors, including the Intel 2920 and Texas Instrument TMS320, and their suitability for continuous system simulation. Whilst these devices have applicability for high-speed, real-time simulation, their lack of floating-point arithmetic capabilities and limited software support need to be overcome before these devices make a significant impact on system simulation.
