The role of computer graphics in validating simulation models

Abstract: Fault finding in a model that is only tentative can present major difficulties. Trying to detect an unknown number of unspecified errors by perusing tables of numbers is difficult and time–consuming with no guarantee of success. For simulation programs graphical techniques can be a useful means of detecting faults in coding and logic. The non-specific nature of visual monitoring makes use of the ability of the human brain to recognize spatial relationships and detect deviations from expected behaviour.
