Abstract:
The paper presents the theoretical development of a conductor macroelement performing analytical solution of the diffusion equation. A numerical model based on the combination of such an element with classical finite elements is exposed. This model provides accurate eddy current calculations in conductors surrounded by saturable iron. The validity of the method is checked in case of a simplified linear example where the analytical solution is known. Moreover this technique is applied to model saturated cage rotors in electric machines.
