Abstract:
The objective of this study is to develop models of the controller mechanism of the human temperature regulating system in a water environment . Both univariate and transfer function models are developed for metabolic heat production, and a mean squared error criterion is used to compare the performance of the two models. The models developed for the controller mechanism are validated in the context of a complete simulation model which is modified to include the controller model derived in this study. The results of the validation procedure show that the controller model is statistically valid.
