Abstract:
Software simulation results are presented for the performance on a nonlinear AWGN band-limited satellite channel of the INTELSAT IBS (2,1) and punctured (4,3) convolutional codes with QPSK modulation and a (3,2) trellis code with 8PSK modulation. Bit error rate estimates are obtained using the standard quasi-analytical method with extensions to include coding. Comparison with accurate Monte Carlo simulation results indicates that quasi-analytical methods can be applied successfully to estimation of the bit error rate on a typical nonlinear satellite channel with coding.
