Abstract:
The use of time-step-integration techniques to solve for the dynamic response of cable-stayed masts from wind force excitation is examined in this paper. A simulation scheme suitable for generating spatially separated wind force traces that conform to characteristics observed in nature is also demonstrated and used in the modelling procedure. The non-linear effects of cable-staying on masts are illustrated from an application of these modelling techniques to a chosen example.
