Simulation of electromagnetic systems by coupling of magnetic and electric equations

F. Piriou and A. Razek

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (MATCOM), 1989, vol. 31, issue 3, 189-194

Abstract: In this paper a model for simulation of electromagnetic systems is proposed. The magnetic equations solved with the help of the finite element method are coupled with the electric equations of the external circuit. The Newton Raphson algorithm is used to take into account the nonlinearities of the different circuits and the Newton Raphson algortihm is used to take into account the nonlinearities of the different circuits and the complete differential equation system is solved with an iterative procedure. A calculation code “MAGELEC” has been realized for this purpose and applied in several electromagnetic systems.
