A numerical algorithm for flame advection and propagation

Maria Calzada and Yu Song

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (MATCOM), 1993, vol. 35, issue 1, 79-92

Abstract: We simulate the flow of a pre-mixed, reactive, incompressible, viscous fluid, using a combination of vortex methods and a flame propagation algorithm based on Huyghens' principle. The combustion part of the problem is modeled by a variation of the SLIC algorithm, which involves the use of a flame dictionary. The combined algorithms are tested on a cold flat plate with different free stream velocities; the results show the effects of cold boundaries and turbulence on the burning process.
