DOMINO: a knowledge-based system for the users of a finite element library

Patrick Laug

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (MATCOM), 1994, vol. 36, issue 4, 293-301

Abstract: Although scientific computing traditionally involves numerical data, the need for symbolic representation is now recognized. In this context, we have developed a knowledge-based system coupled with a finite element library. It guides the user in the specification of the physical problem, finds a correct solution path, and activates numerical modules. A complementary tool takes advantage of a computer algebra system to synthesize new modules.
