Abstract:
The concepts and requirements of an ultimate simulator are defined. One of the most important of these requirements is the treatment of discontinuities. This paper discusses the limitations of EMTP (Electromagnetic Transients Program) in the treatment of discontinuities and presents a new algorithm for solving discontinuous varying topology circuits in the EMTP.
