Abstract:
The Stirring Intensity Measuring Device (SIMD) has been developed, which enables to measure the kinetic energy e of flow fluctuations in multi-phase media, including fermentation ones. Using SIMD, the energy e distribution in various fermentation media was determined. Based on the results obtained, mixing and microorganisms cultivation factors during A. niger and B. Flavum fermentation were investigated. In both cases, the connection between the mixing character in the bioreactor and the intensity of the biotechnological process was demonstrated.
