Calculation of electromagnetic forces on large generator end-windings under fault conditions using a three-dimensional finite element method

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (MATCOM), 1998, vol. 46, issue 3, 257-263

Abstract: Electromagnetic forces generate vibrations in the end-winding support structure of large turbine generators under fault conditions. To study this phenomenon, a 3D electromagnetic model for the computation of the forces on the conductor bars, is described. The model is then applied to the study of a 600MW generator under short circuit conditions.
