Parallel computing forty years ago

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (MATCOM), 1999, vol. 51, issue 1, 47-62
Abstract:
The author’s initiation into computing 40 years ago, and the early development of parallel computing paradigms within hardware and software systems which evolved at that time, are recounted in a personal trace. It was an optimal time to learn computing and the intuition gained has been of great value to the author ever since. It is hoped that the following account of one segment of early computing will be of interest especially to the younger readers.
