The discontinuous finite element method for red-and-green light models for the traffic flow

Ru-Xun Liu, Hong Li and Zhi-Feng Wang

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (MATCOM), 2001, vol. 56, issue 1, 55-67

Abstract: In this paper, the weak form of the mathematical model of the traffic flow is adopted. Theoretical analyses of the discontinuous solutions of the red-and-green light models are discussed. The discontinuous Galerkin finite element method is used to numerically simulate the problems. The numerical results indicate that the numerical simulations are satisfying and the mathematical models are reasonable. The discontinuous Galerkin method is efficient.
