Optimum temperature profiles in tubular reactors

Abstract:
The problem of determining optimum temperature profiles for tubular reactors is solved by the calculus of variations in its classical form. This leads to a two-point boundary value problem, which may be solved, in the simpler cases on an ususal analog computer and in more complex cases preferably on an iterative type of analog computer.
