Abstract:
We have proposed a new model to investigate a substitutional magnetic impurity in non-magnetic metal. The model takes into account the electron correlations in both the host narrow band and the magnetic impurity orbital. Exact solutions for the thermodynamic properties of small systems of four atoms each have been calculated. The low temperature thermodynamics strongly depends on the impurity level, the correlation energies, the host bandwidth, the electron density, as well as the lattice symmetry. Under special conditions our model reduces to the Wolff model at one limit and to the Hubbard model at the other limit.
