Abstract:
The static Onsager model is extended to instantaneous field values in the presence of a light wave impinging on a gas of isotropic molecules of fluctuating density. By partial averaging in the thermodynamic fluctuations (TF) approximation, the fluctuations δE, δG of the electric field and local field, as well as the scattered field Esc, are calculated. The values of δE, δG differ from those given by other authors while the value of Esc agrees with the Einstein result.
