Abstract:
Relative diffusion coefficients have been measured for the almost Lorentzian mixtures Ne-HD and Xe-HD, in the temperature range 237 K to 420 K. The temperature dependence of the diffusion coefficients, after correction for quantum effects, agrees well with theoretical predictions for a Lorentz gas. It is inferred that above 400 K the noble gas atom-HD interaction behaves like a smooth sphere-loaded sphere one.
