On life time and mobility of thermal sine-Gordon kinks

Abstract:
Nucleation theory for the underdamped sine-Gordon chain is used to attack the transport problem of thermal kinks. From a simple phenomenological pair generation recombination picture of kink-antikink equilibrium, life time and mobility of kinks are evaluated. The result is applied to the dc conductivity of the weakly pinned phase condensate by “Φ-particles” in one-dimensional conductors.
