On the liquid phase instability criterion

V.N. Ryzhov and E.E. Tareyeva

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1981, vol. 109, issue 1, 357-363

Abstract: The criterion of instability of liquid towards solid formation (different from the Kirkwood's one) is derived on the base of investigation of the exact closed integral equation for the singlet distribution function. This criterion is also obtained directly from the first equation of the BBGKY hierarchy. The kinetic equation approach which gives the same criterion is discussed briefly.
