Fundamental diode-noise

Abstract:
It is shown how the photon fluctuations of a radiation field and the occupation fluctuations of energy levels in a solid can be in perfect balance. In a diode, this balance can be broken up in two ways: by giving the surroundings of the diode a different temperature, or by biasing the diode with a non-zero voltage.
