Variational approach to equations of motion in driven systems

G. Sauermann and Y.M. Zhang

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1982, vol. 113, issue 1, 277-285

Abstract: The variational principle for expectation values is discussed for the case of driven systems. Examples are considered to find possibilities for an appropriate trial ansatz. Approximate equations of motion for expectation values are evaluated and compared with results of other treatments.
