Relativistic wave functions and the electromagnetic gauge group

Abstract:
It is possible to formulate the gauge theory of the Dirac equation in 2, 3 and 4 dimensions in exactly the same way as for the Klein-Gordon equation. The remarkable difference lies in the fact that real solutions of the Dirac equation are not charge-less, like real Klein-Gordon wavefunctions, but energy-less; their physical meaning is pure Zitterbewegung.
