The unitary group U(3) in nuclear composite particle reactions

Abstract: The analysis of reactions between light nuclei with respect to the symmetry group U(3) of the harmonic oscillator yields selection rules for the formation of the compound nucleus. Specific results are given for reactions of two nuclei with sp-shell configurations.
