Abstract:
The action of the group U(3) × U(n) on phase space is analysed by use of a complex realization. The transversal for this action is shown to be parametrized by three non-negative ordered numbers. Depending on the values of these parameters, the corresponding stability groups and orbits are identified. The transformation from the original coordinates and momenta to the coordinates given by orbit parameters and transversal parameters is discussed.
