Finite subgroup bases for compact Lie groups

Abstract:
The method is described for the derivation of generating functions for branching rules from representations of a compact Lie group to those of a finite subgroup. Interpreted in terms of an integrity basis, the generating functions define analytic polynomial basis states for the Lie group which respect the finite subgroup. Some details are given for SU(3) and its maximal finite subgroup Σ(168).
