Abstract:
The decomposition of the total collision cross section in the glory region into an undulatory glory contribution and a smooth non-glory contribution has been investigated for realistic noble gas interactions. For the heavier noble gas systems both contributions have separately been calculated assuming the existing semiclassical analysis to be valid. Numerical values of the various expansion coefficients derived from the employed potentials are presented. The sum of two contributions, however, yields total cross section results which deviate significantly from the full semiclassical JWKB results in the velocity region near the first extremum. The discrepancy has numerically been analysed in order to arrive at a fast total cross section generator (appendix). A theoretical analysis of the observed discrepancy is in preparation.
