Abstract:
The method of induced forces, which was used previously to derive a scheme for the evaluation of the Oseen drag exerted on a circular cylinder, is applied now to the problem of the Oseen drag experienced by a sphere. By taking into account the zeroth and first force multipole alone, very satisfactory values for the drag coefficient are obtained for Reynolds numbers up to order 102.
