Abstract:
Some recent results are reported, by which the general idea of the hydrodynamic limit is made into a rigorous proof for the case of an infinite system of one-dimensional elastic hard rods. A law of large numbers for particle trajectories on a macroscopic scale is proved, and, as a consequence, the “Euler equation” for the system is deduced. In addition an existence and uniqueness theorem for the equation is given.
