Abstract:
Chiral N=2, D=10 supergravity describes the massless sector of one of the two possible type II superstring theories. After discussing reasons why this superstring theory appears promising as a unified field theory, we present the field equations of the supergravity theory and discuss the problem of finding solutions that describe compactification of undesired spatial dimensions.
