On relativistic corrections in a Vlasov plasma

Abstract: The paper contains a comprehensive analysis of the relativistic corrections in the description of a weakly coupled plasma. Various possible expansion procedures are discussed and the role of the Breit-Darwin approximation is critically assessed. Relativistic effects in plasma wave damping are analyzed.
