Abstract:
The theory of radiationless transitions is revised. At low temperatures, low energy gaps and finite concentrations of ions (impurities, defects, etc.), a usual assumption about equilibrium lattice phonons is not valid any more. For the concentrations of ions above certain characteristics concentrations, it is necessary to take into account the time dependence of phonon variables. Relaxation processes are described by coupled systems of equations for electronic and phonon variables. For specific models the characteristic concentrations are found.
