Electrostatic potential near a toroidal single domain

Abstract:
A toroidal single domain of a ferromagnetic material is analyzed. The electrostatic potential, associated with the electric quadrupole moment of the partially occupied electronic d-shell, is calculated. It is shown that this potential yields an interference pattern which takes the same form as that of the Aharonov-Bohm effect. However, the electrostatic quadrupole potential effect alone cannot explain the experimental data.
