Abstract:
The ratio method, often used in calculating critical parameters from Taylor expansions, is improved by adding a properly chosen shift. The resulting shifted ratio method is successfully applied to the Rayleigh-Schrödinger perturbation series for two physically interesting periodic eigenvalue equations and to the high-temperature magnetic-susceptibility series for some Ising spin-12 lattice models.
