Abstract:
The effects of an applied field perpendicular to the spin direction for the zero field on the magnetization and the transition temperature are investigated in a quasi-one-dimensional Ising antiferromagnet, using the new correlated effective-field theory. We find some interesting behavior for the quantities in the applied transverse field. Theoretically, the present formulation does not lead to the appearance of an anti-Néel point, although the standard cluster theories suffer from the familiar defect.
