Abstract:
Presented here is a theoretical study of the anisotropic effect that a magnetic field generates on 4f electron systems. It is first shown that this effect is important for tripositive middle group rare-earth ions. Subsequently introduced are the equations, expressed to secondary terms of H, that describe the anisotropic Zeeman effect induced by the externally applied magnetic field.
