Abstract:
The properties of the Ising spin glass with a ± J distribution of bonds are studied in the presence of an external field H and at zero temperature in the Bethe approximation. We show that for 0 ⩽ H < J the probability distribution function of the effective field has a piecewise continuous part in addition to delta functions. We find that the energy has singularities located at H/J = 1 + 2/n, n/(n + 2), 0 and 1 (n = 1, 2, 3, …), and that the rediual entropy is particularly high at these points.
