Abstract:
It is shown, using the equations of motion for exciton and phonon operators, that solitons can arise in the space of coherent excitonic states only. The results obtained by this strictly quantum approach are compared to the corresponding ones of Davydov and it is concluded that Davydov's approach can be considered as a quasiclassical approximation in the theory of solitons.
