Abstract:
A theoretical framework permitting the estimation of phonon-induced contributions to spin-lattice coupling coefficients is presented based on the analysis of the one-phonon second-order mechanism. This mechanism involves orbit-lattice couplings that are linear both in static as well as dynamic deformations. The relativistic character of the electronic wave-functions is taken into account. Analytical expressions for the phonon-induced contributions to the spin-lattice coefficients are also given.
