Abstract:
Dispersion and absorption of third-order nonlinear electric susceptibilities in liquids as well as their time-transients are analyzed applying Smoluchowski's equation of rotational diffusion in the form proposed by Debye in his known dielectric relaxation theory of dipolar liquids. On the basis of solutions derived by method of statistical perturbation calculus, the real and imaginary components of nonlinear susceptibility are plotted versus the frequency of the externally applied cosine reorienting field.
