Abstract:
The combined influence of heterophase fluctuations and phonon excitations on lattice and magnetic properties of ferromagnets is investigated. A new procedure for introducing phonon variables preserving the translational symmetry is developed. Spin variables are treated in the ter Haar approximation and in the mean-field approximation. The renormalization of the sound velocity due to both spin-phonon coupling and heterophase fluctuations is obtained; the latter are found by numerical estimates to be more important near the critical point than the former. The Mössbauer-effect probability is calculated and its anomalous sagging near transition points is explained.
