The probability distribution for the Ising model in the Weiss mean field approximation is obtained using a conditional probability method. The phase transition diagram temperature versus magnetization is obtained using catastrophe theory methods while the spontaneous magnetization line and the critical point are characterised using a renormalization group-like method.
