Critical points characterization using probability distributions

J. Güémez, S. Velasco and A. Calvo Hernández

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1989, vol. 156, issue 3, 823-834

Abstract: The probability distribution for the Ising model in the Weiss mean field approximation is obtained using a conditional probability method. The phase transition diagram temperature versus magnetization is obtained using catastrophe theory methods while the spontaneous magnetization line and the critical point are characterised using a renormalization group-like method.
